A good opportunity to do business on the golf course is coming up next month courtesy of the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce. On August 26 the Chamber is inviting its members along with the public to enter a team in their 2023 Golf Invitational.

Executive Director of the Chamber Kevin Martin says things are going well. In the time he's been helping organize the tournament there has always been strong interest.

"It's our third year, since I have been here anyway, and we are good. We have all of our hole sponsors already in place which is great. We are just working now on getting prizes and teams."

They are looking for 18 four person teams, with about 5-6 already entered.

"We are early yet but that is ok." said Martin as a third of the field has been field.

Above is the registration and prize information for anyone interested in helping out. Martin said that side of things has been a positive.

"Having some new prizes, from new companies I should say. Which is nice to see too, people are getting more involved and knowing what's going on."

With a good amount of time to plan the golf tournament, Martin talked about their quick transition into a busy September.

"Another month after that we run into Goose Festival already." chuckled Martin who is already on the phone making calls about this year's edition.

"Just trying to catch our breath and get ready for that, because Goose Festival is a really busy time," said Martin as September's Goose Festival is arguably the biggest annual event circled on the calendar for the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce. Plans for the on-stage performers downtown are in motion, and for the parade and car show which are staples of the September weekend.

While the Chamber is busy planning the rest of their year, it will be exciting to watch some new businesses continue coming to Town.

"There is another new business opening up in August downtown too, in the old Absolutely Eyes building. They are a company that deals with sleep apnea projects." said Martin.

This comes as a new restaurant opened in Red Swan Pizza, and another one is underway in Burger King on the north service road.

When they aren't watching new businesses go up around them, they are hoping to be out recruiting.

Martin shared they are signed up to attend a biennial show in the southeast next year.

"We will have a booth at the 2024 Oil and Gas Show in Weyburn next year. So we can hopefully promote our area up here. They only hold that every second year, we have a booth reserved and the Town is going to come in with us on that so we can promote the Town and the whole area."

Their goal is to help sustain Kindersley as a strong business community.

"We are trying to keep our hand in as many pots as we can I guess." laughed Martin as it seems to be a big year ahead for the Chamber and it's Executive Director.
