UPDATE:  Thursday, Jan 04, 2024, 6:00 AM

Last night's U15 Klippers clash certainly didn't disappoint. Kindersley #2 edged out Kindersley #1 by a score of 7-6 to claim the season series.

A flurry of scoring opened up the game. Kindersley #1 got goals from Carson Solomon and Dayson Kosolofski, and Madden Greenwood, Seth Elliott, and Kiptin Henry scored for Kindersley #2 to make it a 3-3 tie headed into the second.

Kindersley #2 took over in the second period as Easton Wigley and James Wall scored, and Greenwood added his second of the game. Kindersley #1's Kosolofski would also score his second of the game to make the score 6-4 entering the third.

Kindersley #1 came out hot in the third, as despite allowing an early goal to make it 7-4, they battled back with a goal from Braxon Vanthuyne to make it 7-5, and then Solomon scored his second of the game shortly after to make it a one-goal-game with about 7 minutes left to play.

Kindersley #1's final push had fans on the edge of their seats, ultimately hitting a few posts and facing some bad luck as Kindersley #2 held on for the 7-6 win in regulation.

Next up for the teams, Kindersley #1 is at home against Unity on Saturday at 1:15 PM, and Kindersley #2 is on the road Friday in Dinsmore, the first of a home-and-home as Team #2 will be back on home ice Saturday at 3:45.

Kindersley Minor Hockey's final U15 "Battle of the Klippers" is set for Wednesday night at the West Central Events Centre. Kindersley #1 and Kindersley #2 split a pair of Hi-Way 14 Hockey League matchups before the new year, Team #1 picking up an 8-5 win back on December 8, and Team #2 evening things up with a 4-3 win on December 21.

The early December matchup was a high scoring, back-and-forth affair that saw a 5-4 lead for Kindersley #1 headed into the third. Goalie James Longmire would only surrender one more goal towards the 8-5 final, as the Klippers #1 offensive attack was led by Javier Gonzalez, Dayson Kosolofski, and Cohen Dufault, combining for 16 points total in the win, including two key third period goals from the captain Dufault.

Fast forward to the second matchup, a pair of first period goals from Levi Norberg had Kindersley #2 in the drivers seat early. The teams traded goals in the second period for a 4-2 game headed into the third, and though Dufault scored his second of the game to put Team #1 within one goal, Klippers #2 goalie Jett Douglas stood strong in the final minutes to help his team claim the 4-3 victory.

Entering the third and final matchup of the season with eleven games played each, Kindersley #1 has a slight edge in the standings with a 7-3-1 record so far this year. As you can see below, Kindersley #2 is just behind their counterparts with a 6-5-0 record on the season.
