SHSAA volleyball conferences were played last week around Saskatchewan. Local teams either advanced, or saw their seasons end in the 1A, 2A, or 3A play.


1A

Maymont hosted Eatonia, Marengo, and Kerrobert in 1A play. The hosts went 3-0 in pool play to earn a spot in regionals, leaving the final spot to the three local competitors. The Kerrobert Rebels managed to outlast Eatonia in three sets to advance with the second seed.

Perdue also hosted, but were unable to advance as Hepburn and Allan made it out of that bracket.

2A

 A majority of local teams are in the 2A division. Eston, Leader, Beechy, and Dinsmore were part of the 6-team bracket in Eston. Wilkie, Plenty, and Luseland were in Macklin as part of another 6-team group.

The final four in Eston came down to Beechy versus Kenaston, and Davidson versus Dinsmore. Davidson and Kenaston prevailed to earn spot in regionals, afterwards facing-off in the conference championship where Davidson would take the crown.

The final four teams in Macklin consisted of the hosts taking on Plenty, and Wilkie facing Langham. Macklin and Langham came out on top to qualify for regionals, and Langham would beat Macklin in straight sets to be named conference champion.

3A

Multiple 3A schools were also in action.

The community of Outlook hosted five 3A teams including the Outlook High School and LCBI. The home teams didn't fare to well only picking up one win combined, leaving Lanigan and Watrous as the teams moving on to regionals.

Kindersley and Rosetown were in Shaunavon, joining the hosts alongside Maple Creek, Assiniboia, and a team from Briercrest Christian Academy. The two local schools saw their season come to an end as Maple Creek beat Shaunavon and Briercrest beat Assiniboia to earn spots in regionals.

Unity also hosted a 3A tournament, as coach Vicki Orobko and company made the final. Unity defeated Biggar in the final game to secure a second place finish, as they along with first place Maidstone are moving onto regionals.
