Kindersley and Rosetown have broken not one, but two temperature records the final week of December. First up was Boxing Day, as Kindersley reached 7.6 C, breaking the old record of 5.5 C in 2011, while Rosetown reached 7.8 C, breaking the old record of 5.6 C set back in 1997. 

Kindersley and Rosetown were one of 11 communities in Saskatchewan that broke records on Boxing Day including:

  • Moose Jaw 9.3 C (7.1 C, 1994)
  • Lucky Lake 8.4 C (8 C, 1980)
  • Maple Creek 10.7 C (10.7 C, 1994)
  • Rockglen 7.4 C (5.6 C, 1976)
  • Spiritwood 7.3 C (6.1 C, 1999)
  • Wynyard 8.6 C (6.4 C, 2005)
  • Uranium City -3.1 C (-3.3, 2005)

Then more records were shattered on December 28, as Kindersley, Leader, Lucky Lake, Outlook and Rosetown all broke the previous marks. Kindersley reached 10.2 C, breaking the old record of 6.1 C set back in 1997. Rosetown meanwhile, was 10.0 C, breaking the record of 7.1 C set back in 1999. Records have been kept in Kindersley since 1942, while in Rosetown, they have been kept since 1913.
