The Western Prairie Klippers went 1-1 in their first games of 2024 over the weekend. The team traveled down to Swift Current and played the Southwest Impact on Saturday, and after falling behind 1-0 after two periods, the stormed back with five goals in the third period to win 5-3. Scoring for the Klippers were Bridgette Vedress, Caelie Illerbrun, Sarah Folk and two from Laiken Swan.

The Klippers then traveled up to Saskatoon to play the Prairie Blaze on Sunday. After falling behind 2-0, Western Prairie managed to tie things up at two in the second period, with goals from Folk and Illerbrun. But Saskatoon managed two goals before the end of the period to take a 4-2 lead. 

The third period saw no scoring, as the Prairie Blaze upped their league best record to 8-1 with the 4-2 victory. The Klippers now sit with a 2-6-1 record, which is second last in the six-team league.

Next action for the Western Prairie Klippers is another matchup on the road versus the same Saskatoon Prairie Blaze on Sunday. Puck drop for the matinee matchup is 12:15 pm.
