The Kindersley U18 Klippers hit the road this past weekend for a tournament 315 KM away in Trochu, Alberta. The 3+ hour drive ended up worth it, as the team enjoyed a nice tournament run in eventually winning the B Final.

The tournament started on Friday as the Klippers kicked things off with a 5-3 win against St. Albert. Saturday began with a 3-3 tie against the squad from New Sarepta, and then later on Saturday the Klippers would take a 6-2 loss to Kneehill.

Kindersley's 1-1-1 record earned them a spot in the B Final, and a rematch with St. Albert. Ending the tournament on a positive note, the Klippers offense would propel them to victory once again winning 5-2.

While that was the U18's last tournament of the year, they won't be short of any intense action with provincials starting soon. The U18 Klippers drew Aberdeen in the first round, as Game 1 of that series is set for Saturday, February 10 in Kindersley. The second game will be held in Aberdeen on February 18th.

The team certainly has community support beside them. The U18 coordinator shared that there will be a guaranteed 50/50 of $500 for the home game on February 10, and then another sponsor is stepping up to supply the team a bus for the away game in Aberdeen.

Looking at league play, the U18 Klippers have the most games played in the league at 20. The next Hi-Way 14 Hockey League action for the Klippers won't be until February 11 when they visit Biggar/Wilkie. The Klippers final game of the regular season will be on February 21 in Lucky Lake.
