Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp is still ongoing in Saskatoon ahead of their first pre-season game. Practices this week ending with a walk-thru on Friday at Griffiths Stadium will culminate in the green and white's first pre-season game on Saturday, May 27 at Mosaic Stadium.

Last week the team was ousted from their outside digs due to the weather. Poor air quality thanks to wildfire smoke pushed the Roughriders practice indoors to the local soccer centre facility.

The biggest drawback due to the poor conditions had to be the postponement of Saturday's annual Green and White Day.

While the on-field activities were limited, the team provided ample opportunity for the fans to learn about the season ahead during a state of the team address, that promised some changes to the gameday experience for Roughriders fans.

An intra-squad game was rescheduled until later in the day and did kick-off eventually, but only lasted a few series for either side as the conditions just weren't acceptable.

Back to the week of practice, offensive lineman Logan Ferland was interviewed following the indoor practice and had this gem of a quote.

During the rest of his media availability Ferland discussed the offensive line, saying it's hard to escape any conversation without the status of the front five coming up. His response is that everything belongs in the room, and it's been a good battle so far in camp with team chemistry raising up alongside camp intensity.

Ferland also gave his opinion on the use of Guardian Caps in football. The new equipment has been popping up in practice throughout the years and could be working towards less head injuries as players like Ferland have confirmed there is less impact.

You can check out Ferland's full interview here, as he along with the rest of the team have to be eager to hit someone in a different colour jersey this weekend.

Expect a Saskatchewan Roughriders check-in every Wednesday until the start of the regular season on June 11 in Edmonton!
