In game one between the Kindersley Sr. Klippers and Outlook Ice Hawks, there were plenty of goals to go around. Kindersley got off to a fast start as Darian Dziurzynski scored just 32 seconds into the game with the assist going to Tate Page. The Sr. Klippers kept coming, and Dziurzynski got his second straight goal with the assist going to Kylar Hope on a nice setup on a two on one at the 4:13 mark shorthanded. Then just 24 seconds later, Dziurzynski completed the natural hat trick, with another shorthanded marker, to extend the Sr. Klippers lead to three. Kindersley then got another goal just 57 seconds later, as Shayne Neigum scored on a two on one, on a nice pass from David Dziurzynski to make it a four goal lead.

The high scoring period continued, as Outlook got on the board on a shot by Logan Stephenson, with the assist going to Ryan Keller. The Ice Hawks then cut the lead to two on a goal by Kyle Ireland, on a nice pass from Jordy Johnston, with the second assist going to Logan Stephenson. Kindersley answered back about three minutes later, as Kyle Donaldson scored on a breakaway with the assist going to Troy Boisjoli. Before the period was over, Outlook scored on a scramble as Jared Jagow poked a loose puck in that wasn't frozen by Kindersley goaltender Luke Sproule, even though it appeared it was. The Sr. Klippers argued, but it was to no avail, and the goal stood.

After 1: Sr. Klippers 5 - 3 Ice Hawks, shots 17-9 Ice Hawks

The second period was absolutely dominated by the Ice Hawks, and if it wasn't for Luke Sproule it may have been worse. Outlook scored 5:55 into the second on a goal by Daniel Erlandson, with the assist going to Luke Nukwama. Then the Sr. Klippers Troy Boisjoli had a knee on knee hot with Jared Jagow, and was sent to the penalty box for four minutes. Kindersley killed the first two minutes off, but they couldn't kill off the second two minutes, as Luke Nukwama scored on a shot from the slot to tie the game. Kindersley held on the rest of the period, and did not give up any more goals, but Outlook continued to pour it on and Sproule had to be sharp.

After 2: Sr. Klippers 5 - 5 Ice Hawks, shots 14-2 Ice Hawks in the period, 31-11 Ice Hawks overall

Kindersley came out in the third period and found their legs, and got a big save from Luke Sproule on Ryan Keller to keep the score tied at five. Then Kindersley got a powerplay and took advantage of the extra man, and Darian Dziurzynski got his fourth of the game, with assists going to Kylar Hope and brother David in the first minute of play. Kindersley then kept it going and scored 25 seconds later, as Kylar Hope scored with the assist going to Gage Misskey. Then at the 6:07 mark Kyle Donaldson had another breakaway, and once again he beat Outlook goaltender Brendan Plant, to give Kindersley what seemed like a safe lead.

But Outlook manged to score just 1:29 later on the powerplay to cut into the Kindersley lead, as Jordy Johnston scored with the assist going to Ryan Keller. Then Outlook got one goal closer, as Johnston got his second straight goal, with the assist going to Logan Pyett at the 9:27 mark. Kindersley then held on for the next three minutes or so, but off another mad scramble in front of Luke Sproule, the Ice Hawks tied it on a goal by Beau Stewart with just over six minutes remaining.

It looked like Outlook may win in regulation, as Luke Sproule was down and out, but Byron Ismond made the save on a sharp angle shot from Jordy Johnston to preserve the tie. Then in the last minute of play, Kyle Donaldson had a chance for his hat trick, but the puck just bounced over his stick looking at a wide open net with about 15 seconds left.

After 3: Sr. Klippers 8 - 8 Ice Hawks 8, shots 17-9 Ice Hawks in the period, 48-20 Ice Hawks overall

As expected, it did not take long for this game to end. Outlook got a second straight goal from Beau Stewart on yet another scramble, just 3:38 into the extra session, to give the Ice Hawks a crazy 9-8 win, and one game to none series lead.

FINAL: Sr. Klippers 8 - 9 Ice Hawks, shots 2-2 in the period, 50-22 Ice Hawks overall

This had to be the craziest, most exciting senior hockey game I have ever witnessed, and it was a shame that Kindersley fell in this one, but somebody had to lose. Kindersley could not hold on to 4-0 and 8-5 leads, and will have to play better defensively to force a game three in this series. Outlook goaltender Brendan Plant had a terrible night between the pipes, but got the win thanks to 9 goals by the Ice Hawks. Game two will be back in Kindersley on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
