The Kindersley Sr. Klippers will begin their quest for a provincial championship in the B bracket of senior hockey this weekend in Outlook. West Central Online caught up with alternate captain Shayne Neigum to talk about the upcoming series with the Ice Hawks.

“It'll be interesting, I've played with and against a lot of their old veterans there and they have got a really strong team. Kind of some youth and some really old savvy veterans. I think they play rough and tough and we seem to be a fairly similar team in that regard. It's going to be good action for the people of West Central Saskatchewan, that's for sure,” Neigum said.

The deep scoring is one of the reasons the Sr. Klippers have gotten to provincial final, as Kindersley has got goals from all portions of their lineup on this run.

“It's nice to get that energy from some of the young bucks, and then through some of our older guys. Everybody is contributing, top through bottom or scoring goals. I would think with the good solid defenders both teams have, it won't be wide open scoring, but nonetheless it'll be entertaining and we will throw everything we got at him,” Neigum added.

And of course, getting to the final round could not have been done without the strong goaltending of Luke Sproule, something Neigum also praised.

“Luke's been phenomenal, he's carried a big load here for us and you don't get this deep to be able to playoff in a finale without a hot goaltender. So, if he keeps that going, things should look pretty good for us.”

Game one between the Sr. Klippers and Ice Hawks goes this Sunday at 5:00 pm. Classic Hits Radio will have all the action, beginning with the pregame show at 4:45 pm.  You can tune in to 1330/1210, or go to http://goldenweststreaming.com/cfym/console/ to listen online.
