As Saskatchewan's economy continues to grow, the number of households receiving social assistance continues to decrease.

Households receiving the Transitional Employment Allowance were down 917 in November 2008 compared to November 2007.

The number of households receiving the Saskatchewan Assistance Program also decreased by nearly 800 households in November 2008 compared to November 2007.

The new government has announced siginificant increases in support for low-income families including the Saskatchewan Employment Supplement, the Saskatchewan Child Care Subsidy and the Saskatchewan Rental Housing Supplement.

Starting this month, low-income seniors will also benefit from a significant increase to the Seniors Income Plan.
