National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW) is next week, and SGI is holding a social media contest to promote teen road safety in order to raise awareness.

From October 9 to 22, Saskatchewan teenagers aged 15 to 19 can "like" advertisements or posts on SGI's Facebook or Instagram pages and tag two friends. They will then be entered in for a chance to win prizes as part of the contest. SGI plans to use the hashtag #GetHomeSafeSK for the promotion.

NTDSW runs from October 16th to 22nd, and is organized by a national injury prevention group named Parachute Canada.

The week aims to help raise awareness to adolescents on dangerous driving, and encourages them to share the important message of teen driver safety amongst their peers and other social media users.

In Saskatchewan, teen drivers have high fatality, injury and collision rates. Last year, thirteen teenagers were killed and 592 were injured on Saskatchewan roads when an adolescent was driving.
