The Rosetown Town Council is bracing for some higher than usual turnover this fall. While nothing is set in stone just yet, rumour has it that 3 town councilors will not seek re-election as well the Mayor Brian Gerow. If all holds true come October, that would be quite a heavy amount of turnover on town council. Some of the councilors as well as the Mayor have been on town council for 12 or 13 years and feel it may be time to do something different. Mayor Brian Gerow stated if you didn't have enough people willing to step up, they'd have to put out another call for nominations.

He also went on to say it is imperative over the course of the next few months, that everyone talks to anyone that may be interested, that has the best interests of Rosetown at heart, to be nominated. He also said it's a job that needs to be done to ensure the future of the community of Rosetown. He said there's been talks about it in passing and nothing official has been set in stone just yet and until the nomination papers are to be filed anything could happen. Part of the reasoning of some may be the switch to a 4 year term as opposed to a 3 year term. It's quite a commitment for citizens to make, and he said it would also be nice if it was staggered and thus wouldn't have all the turnover all at the same time.

Brian also stated that the 4 year term would probably be brought up at some point at SUMA to be examined again.

In October, out of 6 town councilors and 1 Mayor, only 3 are slated to seek re-election. He also said they're trying to find people with the best interests of Rosetown at heart, and not single issue people that think they're going to go in there and change one thing or another but then not care about the other 1,000 things that you'll need to deal with when you sit on town council. It's important to have well rounded and informed people sitting on council, so that's who they'll try and talk into running.
