During the holidays with all the merry-making, it is easy to have both one's physical and mental health set aside and forgotten.

However, it is relatively easy to stay healthy, even during the holiday season if certain things are kept in mind.

Some important tips to stay well during the holidays:

1.  Getting eight hours of sleep will do so much to vitalize the body and mind and allows all obstacles to be met with a stable frame of mind.

So many people find themselves scrambling over the holidays in order to get everything done at once.

In the crazy speed to accommodate everything this holiday season, it is important to relax and remember first and foremost: This is your holiday too!

2. To avoid energy highs and lows, it is also important to keep track of one's sugar intake during the Christmas season.

This doesn't mean an end to the shortbreads, fruit cake or figgy-puddings.

When selecting Christmas baking, homemade creations are undoubtedly the best kind to offer the family, as there is more control over the sugar content.  There is also an absence of unnecessary additives and

preservatives.

3. When opting for seasonal snacks, seek out energy-rich, low-sugar snacks such as holiday nuts, cheeses, olives, and meat selections.

Walnuts and almonds are the best omega-rich holiday nuts which will keep guests feeling full, happy and content.

4.  After the Christmas turkey meal, try to have a protein-rich meal on hand over the span of the holidays to make certain the primary source of one's sustenance is not solely found through junk food.

5.  Perhaps most importantly, be sure to drink at least eight glasses of water a day to help keep the body hydrated and to flush out the extra sodium, alcohol or sugar in the system.

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, and they are all the more enjoyable when people feel their best.
