On Friday, WestCentralOnline shared a poll asking readers for their opinions after the Government of Saskatchewan announced they passed the "Parents' Bill of Rights", invoking the notwithstanding clause of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the process.

76 responses were received as West-central Saskatchewan got their say on the pressing topic.

Written responses to the topic shows noise on both sides of the aisle.

Many supporters see the bill as a way to stand up for the parents.

"I believe it is the responibility of a parent or guardian to make these type of decisions in regards to their children until the legal age of 18. Decision making abilities are not fully mature until well into adulthood. We all know that teenagers DO NOT make the smartest decisions!"

Another commenter sees "parent's rights" a bit differently.

"Parents do not have rights. Parents have responsibilities--responsibilities which some parents fail to live up to. Children have the right to life, liberty, and personal security. For some trans-youth, their personal safety can become endangered if their parents learn that they are trans. This legislation endangers the lives of children across the province."

The poll is still accepting responses. Participate through the link below, and find other responses in the process.
