Nina Ries was just congratulated on her 35 years of volunteerism with the Lions club. Nina is part of the River Hills Lions in Leader, SK.

West Central Online spoke with Nina about how she joined the club years ago, "When they had the first meeting, the charter meeting, I thought it would be something to find out about. When I got there, I enjoyed it so I just kept on going. I haven't missed too many meetings either through the years. It's one way to meet people and I enjoy doing things for different people like volunteering."

She also talked about receiving the award, "We had a supper that night and about the middle of the meeting or so they told me, I was the owner of this Marvin Chambers Fellowship. So it was quite a surprise, I didn't expect it at all."

Nine has always been apart of the community in Leader. Nina grew up on a farm a few miles of Leader, but moved into town as a kid. Her and her husband are both involved with the Lions Clubs in town.

The River Hills Lions latest community fundraiser was Ladies Night Out hosted last weekend.
