The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certificate Commission (SATCC) has had their funding from the provincial government boosted by $1 million.

The added funds to the SATCC is designed to increase the capacity for the development of skilled trades in Saskatchewan, bringing the total investment to $22.4 million. In a news release, the provincial government says Saskatchewan’s apprenticeship system is tied closely to employer demand, and as the economy grows, so too does the demand for skilled tradespeople.

In addition, the news release says investments into the skilled trades in the province support the recently-released Saskatchewan’s Labour Market Strategy, which outlines how the province is ensuring Saskatchewan has the labour force it needs to support employer demand and realize the potential of a growing economy.
