The Government of Saskatchewan announced today that there will be a new way of displaying active cases in Saskatchewan.

Cases will be broken down based on vaccination status. 

An additional 1166 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,447,827.

There are 85 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 16, bringing the provincial total to 49,766 cases.

There are no new deaths today.

Recoveries total 49,766 and 1038 cases are considered active.

Of the new cases, nine are in the Far North West, one is in the Far North Central, four are in the For North East, five are in the North West, eight are in the North Central, eight are in the North East, 21 are in Saskatoon, nine are in the Central East, three are in Regina, eight are in the South West, three are in the South Central and one is in the South East. Five cases are pending residence information.

71 people are in hospital with 59 receiving inpatient care and 12 are in ICU.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 110.

Of the 85 new cases today, 74 (87%) were unvaccinated, 5 (6%) were partially vaccinated and 6 (7%) were fully vaccinated. The risk of contracting COVID is so much greater if you are not vaccinated. So, if you haven’t done so already, get vaccinated.
