One of the locally born curlers being followed by West Central Online at the SaskTel Tankard in Biggar's Colton Flasch, skipped his squad to victory at the Saskatchewan event to become the province's representative at the upcoming Tim Hortons Brier.

Team Flasch along with Team Heidt out of Kerrobert were the locally sourced teams to follow, though the former was the only one of the two to make it on the playoff round. Team Flasch would use a string of strong performances to push them to the Brier.

In the 3 vs 4 matchup on Saturday night, they would defeat Team Jacobson 10-5 to move into the morning semi-final against Team Hartung. That one would turn out 5-2 for Team Flasch, who went on to face the defending Scotties skip for Saskatchewan in Matt Dunstone in the final.

It was an even game by all accounts between the two talented rinks, as Team Flasch used 3 big points in the 5th end to lead themselves to an eventual tight 6-4 win.

Team Flasch curls out of the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, but some from the Town of Biggar will be excited to watch their locally born skip when he leads his team into play as Team Saskatchewan at the Tim Hortons Brier at the beginning of March in Lethbridge, Alberta.
