It was another great night for senior baseball around west-central Saskatchewan. Each local league should have their playoff bracket set, or even underway as we sit here in the first week of July.
The Fertile Valley Baseball League saw their standings finalized last night as Eatonia took a big win 15-12 win in Rosetown over the Angels. After splitting their two games with the Kindersley Cubs, the Wheat Kings needed one win across a three game stretch to end the season as they were able to clinch the leagues final playoff spot over the Cubs who were watching closely.
Next up in the FVBL will be a rematch of the Thursday night's regular season finale as the 5th seeded Eatonia Wheat Kings hit the road to take on the 4th seed Rosetown Angels once again.
The all Macklin matchup in the Battle River Baseball League's first round of playoffs continued last night as the U18 Lakers beat the Senior Lakers 3-2 to send that series to a third and deciding game on Monday night.
According to the league's Facebook page the "Battle down at Macklin lake" was a tight one with slick defence on both sides as the young guns were able to outlast the seniors.
The Coteau Hills Baseball League completed a pair of one game playoffs to move into the next round. The Elrose Aces hosted the Outlook Riverhawks, and it was the road Riverhawks that flew in to take the win and advance to the next round. The Kyle Yellowjackets took on the Beechy Breakers on the road in the other matchup as Kyle moved onto the next round with a 15-6 win.
Dinsmore had two teams in the league this year, finishing first and second in the league during the regular season. Outlook will face off against the U18s with the first game set for Monday at 6:30. Kyle will taking on the local senior team in the next round on Tuesday at 7.
In the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League the Unity Cardinals closed out their regular season with a 3-1 loss to the North Battleford Beavers.
They ended the season with a 6-5-1 record, finishing strong with four wins in a row before the close loss to the Beavers.
