What better way to welcome in a new hockey team and league, than a whole mess of chicken wings before the first game.

Kindersley Kodiaks skater Shane Anderson visited the studio to show off the new teams colours, and also share what they have planned for Saturday's Cross Roads Hockey League home opener against the Dodsland Stars.

"We have a game at 8:00 PM. Come an hour early for some free wings, and there is a guaranteed 50/50; it should be fun."

Excited to get back on the ice in a competitive environment, Anderson talked about the new league consisting of the Kodiaks, Stars, and also Luseland Mallards and Kerrobert Tigers.

"The Cross Roads is a no-import league. It has four teams, twelve game season."

No imports will help them put an emphasis on local talent, something the Kodiaks are excited to build around.

"Local team, with local players, seeing the local talent."

Saturday's other game in Kerrobert between the Tigers and Luseland Mallards will start a little bit earlier at 7:30.

Each team has 19+ skaters on their roster ahead of the inaugural season of play. It will be interesting to see where the league's cross roads lead in the years to come.
