The first month back to school has been quite busy for students throughout the region as they balance their different subjects and homework. For Kindersley Composite School's Kobras volleyball teams, the schedule has been a little busier.

The last couple weekends, the school's senior girls volleyball 'A' team has travelled for tournaments in southwestern Saskatchewan.

Two weekends ago, the girls travelled to Swift Current to begin their 2017 season. The players and coaches were back on the road Saturday as they travelled down to Maple Creek to participate in a five-team tournament.

For the round robin portion of the schedule, every team played each other once. KCS participated in the tournament with Consul, Fox Valley, and two Maple Creek Composite School teams ("Black" and "Red').

The Kobras finished with a split record of 2-2, beating MCCS "Red" and Consul while losing out against Fox Valley and MCCS "Black". The girls were placed in the number three seed for the knockout phase.

MCCS "Black" proved to be a tough opponent during their first matchup, but the Kobras had an opportunity to grab revenge in the semifinals.

After dropping both sets in the original clash, the Kobras managed to take both sets in the semifinal and defeat MCCS before a rematch against Fox Valley. The senior girls put all their effort into the game, but were unable to capture revenge for a second time in the tournament as Fox Valley won the final in two sets.

Parents rushed onto the court following the game to congratulate their daughters after a hard-fought tournament seeing the girls climb to a second place finish.

Next up for the 'A' team they will be travelling for a meeting versus Oyen tomorrow after school.
