The second season is coming for senior hockey teams. Currently engaged in the heat of the regular season, local teams in the Sask West, Sask Valley, White Mud, and Cross Roads hockey leagues learned their fate for the opening round of Hockey Saskatchewan provincials during a live unveiling Thursday night by the Monday Nooner podcast, featuring Hockey Saskatchewan General Manager Kelly McClintock.

13 teams from west-central Saskatchewan are registered for provincials. Only Senior A, Senior C, and Senior D provincials are in play this year.

Senior A

A whopping 21 teams signed up for this years Senior A bracket. The large field, including only Kindersley as a local team, could improve the odds of a new champion. The Drake Canucks will be gunning for a three-peat after winning their second straight Senior A title last year.

  • *Kindersley vs Loreburn

Senior C

Senior C this year is a 14 team bracket, with six local teams in action. The Wilkie Outlaws are in for quite the series, matching up with Porcupine Plain who is over 400 kilometres away. The Kenaston Blizzards were last year's champions, but won't have a chance to defend this year after moving up to Senior A.

  • *Unity vs Dinsmore
  • *Porcupine Plain vs Wilkie
  • *Biggar vs Rosthern
  • *Kyle vs Grenfell

Senior D

Senior D also has 6 teams set for action. A few local matchups are taking place, including the Perdue Pirates entering a team this year and taking on the Macklin Mohawks. During the livestream, Hockey Saskatchewan's Kelly McClintock couldn't quite recall the last time Perdue iced a team.
