With four wins in five games, the Kindersley Jr Klippers have become one of the hottest teams in the SJHL as of late, so it's no surprise that some of them are being recognized by the league. A total of four Klippers recognized in the SJHL's player of the week awards, three of them as runners up.

Starting off as both the runner up to the MVP award as well as the SJHL forward of the week, newly acquired Andrew Schaab has proved to be a welcome addition after being traded from the Nipawin Hawks. He was held pointless in his first game as a Klipper, but has since followed it up with an impressive five game point streak with 3 goals, 5 assists, and 8 points total in that time frame.

"It feels pretty sick, I've never had that before. I guess I've been getting the bounces and my linemates have been making really good plays, I've just been fortunate enough to put a couple in the back of the net."

Schaab has been put on a line with Kindersley natives Jaxon Georget and Tylin Hilbig, and although he's been held pointless in twice including last game, his linemates have points in both of said games while Schaab's been on the ice with them.

Finishing as a runner up to Schaab was Klippers rookie Carson Baylis. While playing a support role this season on the fourth line taking faceoffs after penalty kills and powerplays has been a main role of Baylis', last week week he put together a three game point streak with 2 goals, 3 assists, and a total of 5 points in two games with Weyburn and a third with Estevan.

Baylis also finished last week with more points than both rookie of the week Taylor Webb of the La Ronge Ice Wolves (4GP 2G-2A-4P) and runner up Jeremi Tremblay of the Flin Flon Bombers and (3GP 2G-2A-4P).

Also finishing with runner up honours for goaltender of the week was Matt Pesenti, who would have had a better shot if Sunday's win game was taken into consideration for last week's voting. Pesenti made two starts for the Klippers against the Weyburn Red Wings, facing a total of 34 shots between the two games and allowing just a single goal while earning his second shutout of the season.

Following up the effort that won him the runner up honours, Pesenti started against the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday with his best work of the week yet. He earned the win facing 34 shots while stopping 32 along with two saves on Hounds forward Johno Hoins that can only be described as highway robbery. Since the start of 2022, Pesenti has posted a 93.3% save percentage through eight games.

Finally, Brayden Koch was named runner up in the defenceman of the week award. Koch had four assists in the four games considered for the award, and has recently been taken up a spot on the second powerplay unit as a quarterback of the group.

Aside from helping out offensively, Koch was named an assistant captain for the Klippers ahead of last week's action and has been stalwart defensively for his team in his own zone.
