The Town of Rosetown will have the Christmas music going early in support of a few good causes. The Rosetown Lions Club and Age Friendly Rosetown are coming together on November 18 at the Elks Hall for 'A Christmas Music Show' complete with ugly sweaters and much more.

One of the events organizers Carmen Ledding is with Age Friendly.

"It's a great opportunity to bring the community together, enjoy Christmas music from local musicians, and an opportunity to raise money for a worthwhile cause.

Proceeds from the event will be split evenly, though Ledding shared another opportunity to donate.

"There is also a silver collection for the Wheels for Wheels van, which is an important initiative in our community." said Ledding as the Age Friendly team is always working to promote accessibility in Rosetown.

"That's a really important thing. In Rosetown there are so many more people who need wheelchair accessible transportation or they themselves can't drive. It's a very worthwhile project to be dedicating that silver collection towards."

Ledding shared some of the reasons people might want to reserve the upcoming Saturday night.

"There is a great opportunity for people to come and wear their favourite ugly Christmas sweater, there's a contest for that." said Ledding as a raffle will also be part of the night. "Definitely an opportunity to just enjoy community is the big thing, and again, it raises money for a worthwhile cause."

The biggest reason for some people is just the opportunity to show-off their once-a-season attire.

"A lot of people get so excited about (ugly Christmas sweaters). It's a rare opportunity to be able to wear it out and about."

Ledding is one member doing their best to advertise the event. Businesses are being encouraged to bring the staff out for an early Christmas party.

"Some people are looking for a really fun opportunity for their staff party, and this is a great opportunity to do just that."

Tickets for the event are available at Athlete's Haven and Belle Rose Floral in Rosetown. Posters are also available throughout the community.

Ledding said that any Age Friendly (or otherwise associated members) can sell tickets as well.

"For instance, you might spot myself, or Hugh Lees, or Crystal Storey downtown, or out and about. Bernie Mullis is another person." shared Ledding, though tickets will also be available at the door.

"Again, it's great to pre-purchase so we know how many tables we need, and to make sure you have enough room for your friends."
