Rosetown was all smiles last week! The annual Tim Horton's Smile Cookie event, which ran from September 16-22, saw incredible success and huge numbers of cookies purchased.

Throughout the week, community members were encouraged to enjoy a $1 cookie with all of the proceeds going to a local charity or organization. This year, The Gasper Family Foundation was chosen as the recipient of the funds.

Secretary for the Gasper Family Foundation, Danielle Pearce, reported that the final count for Rosetown was an astonishing 12,115 cookies sold. That is $12,115 raised for the foundation, a testament to the community support in Rosetown.

“It was smile cookie madness in Rosetown,” said Pearce, “People were eating cookies for breakfast, lunch and supper, hundreds of cookies were delivered to elementary schools, there were farmers having smile cookie eating contests on the combines and cookies were anonymously delivered to the fields.”

Pearce mentioned that a special part of the week was spent with Troy’s grandma, Marjorie Mann and Carissa’s grandma, Shirley Jagow. The ladies spent hours helping decorate 400 smile cookies.

Money from smile cookie day will be put towards phase two of the Gasper Family Splash Park. Phase two will include landscaping around the park, putting in a parking lot as well as building change/wash rooms.
