In the recent report of calls for the Macklin, Wilkie and Unity RCMP, officers responded to more than one instance relating to drug use and possession.

In Macklin, RCMP charged a 46-year-old female from Macklin with possession of methamphetamine and identity fraud during a traffic stop. Sargent Grant Rusk stated that the female has since left the town of Macklin and returned to North Battleford. Additionally, Macklin RCMP are still investigating drug trafficking which was reported to the officers between September 30 and October 6.

Wilkie RCMP stated they will be increasing patrols in a particular area after members received a report of syringes that were found in an empty lot within the town. Sgt. Rusk stated that in any situation where needles are present, to be careful not to come into contact with them and call the RCMP as they will be able to properly dispose of them.

Unity Officers received a call reporting a complaint of fraud, which resulted in two individuals, not from the town of Unity, being charged.

A 38-year-old male from Dillon, SK, and a 35-year-old female from Saskatoon, SK, were both charged with fraud less than $5000 and uttering a forged document. Sgt. Rusk explained that the duo attempted to pass forged government cheques under false identities.

The town of Unity is mourning the loss of a 70-year-old male after he passed away in hospital following a single vehicle collision with a train at Highway 21 and 14. Sgt. Rusk stated the official collision report on the matter is currently being conducted and could take several months.

The Unity RCMP’s report of calls also outlined two railway crossing malfunctions reported by the CN Police. Sgt. Rusk said the railway crossing where the malfunctions were reported were at the same crossing at Highway 21 and 14, yet are unrelated to the single vehicle collision. He added the malfunctions consisted of crossing lights that were on, while no train was on the track. Further, he said the railway crossing lights were working properly during the time of the aforementioned collision.
