A brief warm up will be felt across the West Central region over the next few days.

Our final weekend of October will bring with it above seasonal temperatures which could very well be the final double digits days we experience in 2022.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang explains how the warm-up is occurring.

“There is a big low-pressure system that's moving across north of the NWT border and what it does is when one of those big systems moves across the north, it makes the southerly and southwesterly winds kick into areas in the prairies. We know those southwesterly winds are very dry warm winds. Its bringing in that really mild Pacific air and as it comes down over the mountains it dries, and it warms even more.”

Of course, in typical Saskatchewan fashion, the winds will be noticeable throughout the weekend with gusts up to 50km/hr expected at times.

Lang continued to say seasonal weather will return after the weekend commences.

“Once we get into early next week the pattern is starting to shift and we are going to see a couple of weather systems start to move through. I don't think we'll get to seeing any precipitation until probably late Tuesday into Wednesday, and that may be snow, so people should be mentally prepared to see snow again.”

No snow until later in the week is good news for the trick or treaters heading out Monday to get candy on Halloween.
