The hot and humid weather has returned to the west central region. A heat warning has been issued in the region as of 3:25 CST Monday.

Natalie Hasell is a warning and preparedness meteorologist with environment and climate change Canada, and she said to beat the heat by staying hydrated. Drinking lots of water, even if you're not thirsty, is very important, and make sure to eat accordingly when the weather is warm.

"Watch what you eat, high protein food tends to take longer to digest, it really heats your body up when you're doing that. More foods that are high water content and less foods that are high protein content. Stay hydrated, and have the clothing that lets you breathe, like cotton for example," Hasell said.

Hasell also said temperatures are expected to be warm all week, and the area is in a dome of hot air, caused by a warm sector of a cold pressure system north of the region.

Hasell added that if you don't have air conditioning in your house, putting ice cubes in front of a fan is good idea, and if you can, head to a basement to cool off.
