This week has been proclaimed Veterinary Technician Week in the Province.

Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart says the veterinary technology profession is vital to the quality care of animals in Saskatchewan and we value the work these professionals do in a range of workplaces across the province and that the annual proclamation is an opportunity to recognize the positive contribution they make to our agricultural industry and to animal health care in general.

Justine Taylor has been a veterinary technician at the Horseshoe Veterinary Clinic in Swift Current for eight years.

She talked about why she loves being a veterinary technician

"Well I love it, it's something different every day," she said. "Sometimes it can be the same old vaccines, but then there is cool surgeries and cool cases that you get to see."

She encourages students thinking about their future who love animals to consider it as one of their career choices.

Saskatchewan has about 400 registered veterinary technologists.
