One of the Canadian cogs on the Roughriders offensive line these past few seasons, Saskatchewan's own Logan Ferland was named the Roughriders nominee for Most Outstanding Lineman for the second season in a row.

The award was not unanimous, but Ferland's ability to move around the line likely played a major factor in the selection. He's filled in nicely at centre in the past, though in 2023 Ferland was forced to take key snaps at both left and right tackle in two of the team's biggest wins of the season. Another highlight pertaining to Ferland has to be a near 1000 yard season for Jamal Morrow, as the Roughriders running game gelled together nicely to end the season.

Ferland played in all 18 of the Roughriders games, capping off his season with a pass-blocking performance against the Toronto Argonauts that made him the highest-graded offensive lineman in the CFL for Week 20.

Now the homegrown lineman will be heading into the offseason as one of the Roughriders 37 free agents. Canadian lineman are a valuable commodity in the CFL, and it will be interesting to see if Ferland fits into the Roughriders future plans after the front-office shakeup that took place following last week's season ending loss.

The team awards were announced Wednesday. Linebacker Larry Dean was nominated for both Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player, and another multi-award nominee is punter Adam Korsak who is up for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and Most Outstanding Rookie. Receiver Samuel Emilus was the Roughriders Most Outstanding Canadian.

Once the rest of the leagues eight teams announce their nominees, one player from each division will be up for their respective honours at the awards show on November 16th during the Grey Cup Festival. This year's big game will be played at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
