UPDATE: Monday, March 20 2023, 6:00 AM

The Western Prairie Thunder are one series win away from taking home the SFHL U13 AA Provincial Championship after a 3-1 win against Swift Current on Saturday. Hayden Hilbig and Jalaa Moore Jagow each scored in the game to put the team up two, and then an insurance marker and the first of the playoffs for Berkley Wuttunee helped send the U13 AA Thunder into the championship round.

It's the impressive Thunder program's inaugural season of AA play in the U13 division, and the year couldn't have gone any better as they now get set for a matchup against the also undefeated in these playoffs Saskatoon Comet Hurricanes.

Each team had an incredible regular season. The Western Prairie Thunder finished with a 25-1 record for 50 points on the year in the South Division, and their opponents from Saskatoon finished narrowly behind them as the Comet Hurricanes went 24-2 for a 48 point regular season.

Game 1 of the championship series will be held on Thursday, March 23rd in Kindersley at 7:30. Game 2 is set for Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon, and if necessary, the all important winner-take-all Game 3 would be played back in Kindersley on Sunday at 12:00 PM.

The U13 AA Western Prairie Thunder are at home this weekend looking for a win that would move them into league championship.

A spot in the SFHL U13 AA Provincial Championship can be secured with a win this afternoon against the U13 AA Swift Current Wildcats, and if the Thunder can't get it done in Game 2, the winner-take-all Game 3 will take place tomorrow at noon back at the West Central Events Centre in Kindersley.

Game 1 on the road resulted in a 7-2 win for the Thunder. Hayden Hilbig and Berkley Wuttunee each had 3 points, for a Thunder team that has scored at least 6 goals in all three of their playoff wins.

Puck drop for the Thunder is set for 4:00 today.
