Baseball and softball diamonds across the province were very busy this past weekend with provincials. There was no doubt some great ball played over the weekend, but perhaps one of the more exciting games took place in the U12 division for girls softball in Prince Albert.

A Kindersley parent shared details of the Royals gold medal game against the Unity Panthers, that ended up in a 14-13 walk-off win for the girls.

The 2021 Kindersley Royals U12 girls are now provincial champions in softball. They won the title this past weekend in Prince Albert, and it was very exciting final for everyone in attendance. It was a very exciting, nail-biting game to watch. Kindersley trailed 13-12 headed into their last opportunity to bat, when Hayden Hilbig opened up the inning with a free pass to first base after taking a pitch off the foot. Claire Kosolofski was second up to bat as Hilbig would make a daring steal of second base, and score soon after on a strong hit from Kosolofski. That would tie the game up and set up the eventual game winning run scored by Kosolofski, off a hit from the inning’s third batter in Kailee Preston.

Kindersley would take the gold medal 14-13, and you can find some more pictures from the big win below:
