It features Jodi and her Guide Dog Shadow, and one of the producers in Adrian Halter, who hails from Luseland, came up with the idea to head to his hometown.

Halter talks about where the idea came from.

“We had a meeting and they had said that they were hoping to do something around Guide Dogs but didn't really have anything in mind for the project. So, I hadn't done a series for them yet, and so I was looking at maybe doing something a little bit longer form for them. And I've just done that same year, I had just done a promotional project for the CNIB and got to learn a little bit more about the guide dog program and the handlers who work with the Guide Dogs. So, it just seemed like something worth exploring and the kind of the more I dug into it, the more interested I became, I wanted, myself like many others, we've seen Guide Dogs around, but you don't really know all the work that goes into it. So, just that kind of exploratory nature of wanting to explore, subject and then share that with others.”

It was certainly a nice coincidence that Jodi and Shadow were in Halter’s hometown. He stated he had never met Jodi and it was just by chance.

“I was working with the CNIB branch in Regina, which is where I am based out of it. They were putting a list of people who I should reach out to who had CNIB specifically trained Guide Dogs. So, the fact that someone was living in my hometown and had a CNIB Guide Dog was a pretty big coincidence. That’s how I heard about Jodi, and we got to come up and film for a few days,” Halter added.

Halter has been producing documentaries since 2017, including four for AMI-tv, including one called Flat Out Food, which premiered in 2021 and he will be working on that after Blind Trust.

Halter has known for many years he has wanted to be in television and film.

“I have known since I was about 13 that I wanted to get into TV and film. Growing up in a small town, that’s not a super common career goal. Especially at that young age, I think a lot of people just assumed that was a phase, and I would grow out of it. But I had a lot of support from my family and teachers and other people in the community. To be able to come back to Luseland and film, and bring that full circle is pretty special.”

Blind Trust will be airing every Tuesday for the next six weeks on AMI-tv, which is channel 888 on Shaw Direct, 1002 on Bell, and 554 on SaskTel Max.
