Table Mountain is officially closed for the season. It was a successful one considering the circumstances.

“We were pleasantly surprised with the response we got from the public.” said Table Mountain GM Lawrence Blouin, “Of course our numbers are down from prior years”

Attendance is one of the main drivers for Table Mountains finances, and a large part of those numbers come from school ski trips. Blouin estimates that around 350-400 school kids usually attend the hill each day when it comes to their school program.

With less attendance than usual and the shorter calendar, it was decided that some attractions were not necessary this year. The tubing park never opened, and some of the more expert runs were kept closed as well to help speed up completing the rest of the parks attractions. Still, Blouin believes about 90% of the park was able to go. He talked about how it would have been nice to be at 100%, but what they were able to get out there was more than enough to serve their clientele.

Another big loss this season was the normally big numbers they see at Christmas. The weather was great over the holidays this year so it would have been nice for Table Mountain to be open, but everyone should just be happy the season got off the ground and turned out successful.

Perhaps a boom in business takes place whenever they open back up to full capacity next season, and maybe even a spike on sales to the tubing hill if people realize how much they missed the other activity at Table Mountain!
