Children living in an orphanage in Mekelle, Ethiopia were gifted dozens of soccer jerseys, balls, pumps and equipment. The equipment was delivered by Lorne and Darlene Hovdestad who recently visited the country where they spent several years living and working.

Word travelled across town that the couple were travelling to Ethiopia and the town's soccer club saw an oppurtunity. The soccer association approached the couple asking them if they'd take all the equipment to the African Nation with them. The couple saw all the equipment that is still in fantastic shape and immmediately agreed. Darlene detailed in a conversation with West Central Online they knew a friend in Ethiopia who is helping many children get into school and off the streets.

Once they arrived they called their friend who knew exactly where to go with all the equipment. Darlene didn't know they total of jerseys off hand but she claimed it was somewhere between 40-50 jerseys that were distributed. She also detailed how absolutely ecstatic the kids were to get the new-ish equipment. Darlene said her and Lorne had so much fun giving the equipment to all the children in need. The sizes ranged from very small kids jerseys all the way to adult sizes.
