There is never a good time for a snowstorm, but with multiple group events taking place in the Town of Kindersley this weekend, mother nature couldn't have picked a worse time for a weather system to hit.

The event most impacted had to be the "Winter Classic" figure skating competition taking place at the West Central Events Centre. Including skaters, over 300 individuals were in attendance for the provincewide skating event.

Kindersley Skating Club coach Amber Wildman was all-over the place helping out, and was the perfect person to ask just how much disruption was caused to the event due to the weather.

"Luckily it still ran pretty smoothly. A few withdrew, some left early, and some decided to skate all their events and figure out travel afterwards!" shared Wildman.

The storm then showed it's ugly colours, and as you can see above, the rink wasn't exactly the place to be on Saturday night.

"Saturday night (and Sunday morning) people were stuck all over the parking lot." said Wildman, as more photos below from the Kindersley Fire Department on Saturday night proved the nightmare situation noticed all around Town.

Skating families weren't the only highway traffic hitting Kindersley for the weekend. Kindersley Composite School invited teams in for a senior boys basketball tournament set for Friday and Saturday, that was cut short due to weather according to "A" team coach Jason Hankewich.

The home Kobras teams performed well, the A squad picking up the gold medal, but it was certainly a disappointing end to their regular season as teams had to return home well before the final buzzer.

Also on this weekend at the arena was the Kindersley Curling Club's Chicken and Wine Bonspiel. While the tournament was completed easily with the field being mostly local, people still hurried hard to get home as the blizzard hit it's worst stretch into Saturday night.
