Regional badminton moved the province's top players one step closer to competing for a provincial gold medal.
Rosetown held the competition for Region A over the weekend. Competitors were in play across boys doubles, boys singles, mixed doubles, girls doubles, girls singles.
The top two teams/players from each round of regionals officially qualified for provincials taking place this upcoming weekend in Nipawin. Coming out on top in each category were the following:

Girls Singles
Maple Creek (Whitefish) and Rosetown (Green)
Girls Doubles
Gravelbourg (Simonsen & Tucker-Bellaire) and Rosetown (Fischer & Weber)
Mixed Doubles
Maple Creek (Frey and Buss) and MJ Central (Salido-Porter and Nguyen)
Boys Singles
Val Marie (Schmidt) and MJ Central (Quimio)
Boys Doubles
Rosthern (Klassen and Wu) and Assiniboia (Hillmer and Reid)
The three Rosetown competitors will travel to Nipawin with the chance to bring home two gold medals. Rosetown's girls doubles team will play Leboldus first, Nipawin second, and Lloydminster last from L.P Miller in Nipawin. Looking at singles, Rosetown's contender Green will play Indian Head, Nipawin, and Tommy Douglas in a round robin.
The girls will compete to finish either first or second in their pool for a chance to play in Saturday afternoon's playoff. The losers will face off in the bronze medal game, while the gold medal match goes at the same time.
