Summer like weather is coming up later in the week, but first a fairly large storm is making its way across the region.
After a tornado watch was issued yesterday for a good portion of west-central Saskatchewan, a severe thunderstorm warning followed through the night into this morning. Kindersley residents who woke up early witnessed thunder and lightning before a solid shot of rain, as that warning was shared and lifted in the time between 5-6 AM.
After that skies were blue for a short period of time, before more heavy rain fell for a short time and skies turned back grey.
The Kerrobert/Landis region, and then north to Wilkie and stretching across to Unity were still under the severe thunderstorm warning as of 7:00 AM. One comment on the Country 104 Facebook page showed a lake on the streets of Unity.
That system seems to be quickly moving out of the northern part of the region, making its way towards a separate severe thunderstorm warning active for the North Battleford region.
As for what can be expected tonight, a majority of the area is currently reading a 30 per cent chance of showers into this evening.
