Other than for the Sask Valley Hockey League, it was the final weekend of regular season hockey around west-central Saskatchewan. League, and provincial action highlighted a big weekend. 

The Sask Valley Hockey League began their playoffs last week with a pair of games.

Set to continue Monday night, a few first round series have already been decided. The winners will advance to face top seeds in the east Davidson, or Kenaston. Whoever wins in the west will face off against either Dinsmore, or Kyle in the second round. 

SVHL Round 1

(East)

  • (6) Loreburn 19ers vs. (3) Central Butte Flyers - Flyers win series 2-0
  • (5) Outlook Ice Hawks vs (4) Craik Warriors - Ice Hawks up 1-0

(West)

  • (6) Lucky Lake-Beechy Lakers vs. (3) Eston Ramblers - Ramblers win series 2-0
  • (5) Rosetown Redwings vs. (4) Delisle Bruins - Redwings up 1-0 

The Sask West Hockey League had their bracket mostly set after Saturday night, but a Sunday night win by Macklin over Hafford solidified things. The #1 seed Wilkie Outlaws finished the season undefeated at 18-0, and will learn their second round opponent following the first round games.

  • (7) Unity Miners vs. (2) Kindersley Sr. Klippers
  • (6) Biggar Nationals vs. (3) Hafford Hawks
  • (5) Macklin Mohawks vs. (4) Edam 3 Stars

The Cross Roads Hockey League and White Mud Hockey League also unveiled their brackets late on Monday.

The White Mud has an all-local series as #4 Eatonia and #5 Leader will matchup in the first round, along with Frontier facing Shauavon, and Maple Creek taking on Cabri.

In the Cross Roads league, it will be the #1 Dodsland Stars versus the #4 Luseland Mallards, leaving the Kindersley Kodiaks to face off against the Kerrobert Tigers.
