As temperatures rise after the weekend, this week's heat is supposed to rise to uncomfortable levels.

The 30 degree mark is going to be passed as Wednesday will have a high of 32 degrees, with temperatures overnight going to only 14 degrees.

On Thursday, there'll be a potentially record-breaking high of 35 degrees, with only a few clouds to break up the rays.

That heat will likely be similar on Friday, though there may be a few more clouds that'll make some shade.

Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, gives the reason behind the wave of heat.

"We do have a big ridge of high pressure - it's an upper ridge of high pressure the jetstream is shifting so we get under a dome of really warm air," said Lang, "It's gonna be parked there for a few days so all of central and southern Saskatchewan will be experiencing some very warm temperatures."

After the rain last week during May long weekend, growers were relieved to be done with drought-like conditions.  But according to Lang, this heat may also have an effect on crops.

"It's still quite dry, and I don't think the heat is going to help much with the dry conditions. Some rains were received so that's good for the growing conditions at least." Said Lang.

Lang is also reminding people to stay safe outdoors, especially since the sun will be out so much.

"Put your sunscreen on and that's something people should always be doing regardless of temperature. It doesn't matter how hot it is the UV index stays the same." Said Lang

"The other advice is to take it easy in the heat. Often we don't feel that the heat is getting to us until it's too late or a little bit later in the day. So make sure you stay hydrated, stay in the shade as much as possible, seek cooler places if you can."

"Watch your animals and your children as well - they can't exactly regulate their heat as well."
