Saskatchewan is slowly regaining jobs. The month of November showed an increase of jobs in Saskatchewan compared to the previous month. Around 2,400 jobs were created which is a 0.4% increase from October.

However, Saskatchewan's neighbors are seeing a decrease in jobs, Alberta's was down 12,800 (-0.6 per cent), B.C.’s down 9,300 (-0.4 per cent) and Manitoba’s down 900 (-0.1 per cent) from October to November.

 

Year over year, Saskatchewan has seen a decrease in jobs. In November 2016, 567,800 people were employed which is 10,000 fewer jobs from 2015. November's unemployment rate sits at 6.8%, which is tied with the national average.

In a media release, Economy Minster Jeremy stated, "We are still seeing the impact of resource sector challenges on our labour market... Over the last decade, 68,900 jobs were created in Saskatchewan which is a testament to the long-term strength of our economy.”
