According to Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan's unemployment rate went up last month compared to the previous year’s job numbers.

Joblessness is up 0.8 per cent with 4,500 residents in Saskatchewan losing full time jobs since last year.

The employment rate in the province was similar this July to the same time last year. Unemployment in Alberta went up by 2.3 per cent with over 50,000 less jobs than last year.

Over 52,000 new full time jobs were created across the country in August, but unemployment increased by seven percent because the number of Canadians looking for a job has gone up. Approximately 26,000 Canadian citizens lost their part-time jobs last month.
