The “Wipeout on water” water park attraction at Battlefords Provincial Park has recently been closed on and off due to maintenance, but the park is currently open and looking at another great weekend.

Ashley Greenwald is a manager at the Battlefords location and could only describe the course as a great big blowup obstacle on water.

The attraction was hit by an intense storm back near the end of July that canceled operations for a few days. Some more recent intense winds have also affected scheduling for the water park. She was on hand the day of the initial storm, and gave us a first hand account.

"We got everyone off safe like 10 minutes before the storm hit. Our main priority was safety,” she explained, “It didn’t seem to have any damage, but it took us about a week to get back up and running.”

That process included sending out scuba divers, and getting everyone to team up together to recoup from the storm. Once the wind died down the crew was able to set the inflatable playground back up and assess the situation. The repairs shouldn’t be too much work, making the windy conditions seen over the last week the main hurdle to clear.

Hopefully the wind can stay away this weekend as it is expected to be another hot one. Weekend highs in the 30’s are likely going to be a big reason people check out the Sask Aquatic Adventure site, and Greenwald provided some more information on their location and typical attendance.

“We are just along the main beach. There is a store there, a hut with a green roof thats where we are at,” shared Greenwald, “Thursday or Friday before the weekend people are always out there. We are actually allowed to have quite a few more people than you would think allowed on the park at once. We’ve had a few days at capacity, it really depends on what your looking for.”

She described that depending on the challenge they want, how many people are on the inflatable course is something that can greatly add or take away from the challenge.

“If you are looking to be out there and tackle all the obstacles without falling off then when it is less busy it is a little more ideal. On the days it’s really busy it is fun too, it makes the challenge a little more with all the movements on the park.”

With the massive sprawling size of the park the problem was never going to be a rip, instead the fact that intense winds resulted in the play-place twisting around and toppling all over itself.
The extra time and maintenance has gone towards some of the pieces of the park that seem to be deflating faster, and no significant damage has been close to being noticed on the float so far.

The season for some wipe-out fun at Battlefords Provincial Park is nearing its end, and its not the only location, as Sask Aquatic Adventures also has parks set up at Blackstrap, Regina Beach, and more provincial park locations.
