Highways will not be in the same shape they were in earlier this week, especially with heavy snow on the way in West Central Saskatchewan.

The first weekend of March expects enough snow to fall, and will help remind everyone that winter still isn't over with. This will mainly have an effect on drivers planning to log multiple hours on a highway.

Tyler McMurchy, SGI Communications Manager, shared some helpful tips that drivers should be aware of when driving on a highway.

"It looks like there's going to be certain areas being hit with winter weather. You need to adjust your speed when roads are icy and less than favourable to help get to your destination safely." McMurchy said.

Highways will be much slower than normal over the next few hours, and it's important to understand that you won't make your destinations in the same time you normally do when roads are seasonal. McMurchy also added, "Leave more distance with the vehicle in front of you so you give yourself more time to react, and clear all snow off of your windows before you start to drive."

Certain areas could also see higher winds up to 30km/h to 50km/h and that's another thing to take into consideration.
