July racing is back at Flatlanders Speedway. Without a weekend of competing events, club president Jason Hankewich is excited to see an increased turnout.

"We have confirmed out of town cars already saying they are going to show up here, so we should have a lot better turnout than last time."

The Kindersley Indoor Rodeo along with other fun weekend activities took some of the fanfare away from Flatlanders, but more attendance should be present on Saturday when the drivers start their engines.

"The Oilmen's (golf tournament) was going on at the same time, which is huge."

More local drivers are expected to be in the driver's seat come race day too, as this event is only a one day race, ahead of the rest of Flatlanders' season coming in as two-dayers.

"Our next race after this is August 13th and 14th, and then Goose Fest on September 24th and 25th," said Hankewich, who gave a teaser for the big weekend in September, "That's going to be a real big weekend for us. We have the Legends Touring Series coming through that weekend. They should have 20+ cars. We also have the wingless sprints coming, and we are also having our track invitationals that weekend."

The track has a new announcer for the weekend in one of Hankewich's racing connections from Saskatoon, and the show begins at 2:00 pm.
