The new facility for the West Central Abilities Day Program is set to resume progress in the coming days. The recent stretch of extreme cold weather in the region forced construction to come to a halt for the better part of two weeks. Kim Edmunds, Executive Director for West Central Abilities detailed the progress and the challenges they have faced recently.

"The new building progress is coming along nicely. The construction is progressing as planned and the shell is just about completed. Unfortunately, due to the delays because of the cold weather construction is yet to resume."

The upcoming forecast and warmer temperatures will finally allow construction to resume. Edmunds touched on when the project should be finished.

“We expect construction to be completed late summer, early fall. We are all very excited and cannot wait to move into the new facility.”

Edmunds encourages people to also watch and drive by to see the developments on the new building as they progress. Edmunds also wants to remind people of the location change.

"Our new building is located on the 100 block on 1st Ave West. We get many questions where we're located and where this new build will be. So, it's in the heart of the community and it's going to be a wonderful location for our day program.”

West Central Abilities has faced some other challenges with Covid-19, which has put a fundraising on hold and has impacted the funding process. Edmunds wants to remind the community donations are always welcome.

Donations will be accepted at the current location in the industrial area.
