There will be four more names added to the Saskatchewan Roughriders Plaza of Honour this year. The 2021 Class was announced Wednesday evening. The class will include Chris Getzlaf, Andy Fantuz, Gabe Patterson and Paul J. Hill.

Fantuz played six of his 12 seasons in the CFL with the Riders, making his debut on July 22, 2006. He played in 77 games with the Riders and won the Grey Cup with the team in 2007. He was selected the Most Outstanding Canadian in that game. He was also named the league’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2010.

Getzlaf joined the Riders partway through the 2007 season after being traded to the team by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He would go on to spend 10 seasons with the team, playing 119 games. He appeared in three Grey Cups for the Riders and helped the team in winning the 2013 championship. He was also named the Most Outstanding Canadian in the 2013 game. The Regina-born player is ranked fifth in franchise history for receiving yards.

Hill Is being inducted into the builder category. A prominent businessman in Regina, the CEO of The Hill Companies has served on the Roughriders Management Council and Board of Directors for more than 22 years. Hill was the driving force behind a number of initiatives over the years, and his company was a major sponsor of the Grey Cup in 1995, 2003 and 2013, when Saskatchewan hosted the game.

Patterson is being posthumously inducted. The South Carolina native is hailed as the first Black star on the Riders and was just the second Black player in team history. Playing quarterback, defensive back and kicker, he led the 1947 team in points and was an all-star in 1947 and 1948. He was also active in the community, helping to coach high school football while he was with the club.

The induction ceremony will take place on October 9th.
