For the second consecutive day, active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan rose today as new cases outnumbered recoveries. In fact, today's new case count was the highest of the week so far and double the case count of an earlier day. 

The Saskatchewan Health Authority reported no deaths today in patients who tested positive for the virus. Because of a correction to an earlier case in Regina which had been listed as fatal but was not, the number of people who've died from the virus in Saskatchewan stands at 561.

There were 94 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Saskatchewan today for a total of 48,220. There were also 70 recoveries for a total of 46,907. The number of active cases in Saskatchewan now stands at 752. There are 87 people hospitalized due to the virus. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 75. 

Today's new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 4; Far North East, 1; North West, 9; North Central, 7; North East, 5; Saskatoon, 25; Central West, 11; Central East, 2; Regina, 9; South West, 3; South Central, 7; and South East, 4.  One case with pending residence information was assigned to the South East. 

Active cases now sit at 31 in the Central West zone as of June 17, the highest they have been since May 22, when there were 35. 

Yesterday, the SHA processed 2,301 COVID-19 tests. There were also 15,402 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered for a total of 937,737. This means 68 percent of the population age 12 and over (69 percent of the population age 18 and over) have now received their first shot.
