For the first time in quite awhile, new cases of COVID-19 reached the century mark in today's update. Central West saw nine of those new cases, and the active case count has reached 17 in the Zone as of December 22. This might be a sign of things to come as the contagious Omicron variant is raging all over the country and world, and has reached Saskatchewan. The total of 96 Omicron cases reported in the province includes 27 confirmed cases and 69 probable cases detected through screening.

There were also 36 recoveries, and one death in relation to COVID-19 reported today. 

627 cases are active in the province.

91 people are hospitalized, 61 people are receiving inpatient care, 30 people are in the ICU. 57% of those people were not fully vaccinated.

The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 68.
