The Elizabeth Middle School had a mock voting process held at the middle school library on Monday in conjunction with the federal election.

The middle school students took turns, class by class, learning the voting process and each cast their mock vote, along with other west central residents, voting for who they wanted to see as the next MP for Cypress Hills-Grasslands.

Megan Donald, a teacher at Elizabeth Middle School, oversaw the voting process and explained why it was important for the students to learn how voting works.

"We wanted to teach them how to vote and the voting process, so when they turn 18 and they can actually vote, that they will be less nervous about going down to cast their vote."

It was the first time that middle school students did the mock vote and it was a great success that will probably be done once again another federal or provincial election is held.
